There will be minimum impact on digital marketing jobs, as brands may try to move away from agency led model to in-house model to save agency costs. Due to Covid people will try to avoid going out frequently & this trend shall continue this entire year, the ideal way to reach out to your audience is through digital only but since many small business will shut shops, there will be less demand from such businesses.

Parallelly digital marketers need to be hyperactive to reach out to the newly created audience and have to come up with new ideas to increase the customer engagement as well as upgrade their skills to enhance the customer experience. In short, it will be survival of the fittest.

I think businesses should wisely think about investing money post Covid-19. As the resources, especially money, will become shorter. Companies should focus on sustenance in the challenging environtment. Advertising budget should be decided after analysing market conditions like customer buying capacity, type of product you are offering, need for your service/product in present situation. You should also look at your essential expense and monthly profit margin.

Many economist are suggesting that we would be seeing a situation which will be worst than "The Great Depression" and it suggests that there would be liquidity crunch in market. This will impact all jobs from all sectors but digital will be relatively less impacted as because of Covid-19 there is Consumer shift happening and business would find digital the most effective way to reach out to customers. So keep up-skilling and try some freelancing other than the regular job.

What's your opinion about the impact on digital marketing jobs?

COVID 19 and sudden lock-down, has impacted businesses and jobs in various sectors, but digital marketing has a different story. It remained unaffected mostly and is expected to witness a continuous boom. Many people are considering bringing their conventional marketing practices into the digital platform, and this is a good sign of change. We can say that COVID 19 has acted as a catalyst to see things with a new perspective.

The World Wars brought social and industrial changes, this pandemic and crisis will have another impact, on people’s attitudes with lifestyle and work. As a content writer in the digital marketing team, with a Kolkata based company; we had the opportunity to start working from home a few days prior, the formal lock-down was announced.

I also had a conversation with my contemporaries who are in freelance writing and the scenario is similar. More businesses are embracing the online platform and there is a growing need of work for the digital marketers and content writers. There may be currently some paying issues as everybody is facing economical strains, there could be low pay or lesser remuneration, but as time passes by; this will alleviate.

In short, Digital marketing jobs are gaining significance now and will continue to outshine after the COVID 19 crisis.
